We Are the World (Again…)

Lady GaGa, Wyclef Jean and Lil Wayne have joined the galaxy of stars coming together to record a remake of the classic 1985 benefit song “We Are The World”! Other artists working on the track include Bono, Kanye West, P!nk, Usher, Justin Bieber, Akon, Jennifer Hudson, Snoop, LL Cool J, Keri Hilson, Jamie Foxx,Toni Braxton, Kid Cudi, GaGa’s producer RedOne and will.i.am among a ton of others. Lionel Richie, who co-wrote the charity single with Michael Jackson, is working with Quincy Jones, the song’s original producer, to organize the 25th anniversary remake to benefit Haiti relief. In a statement, Jones said, “Twenty five years ago, the entertainment industry showed the power of community to help our fellow man when we recorded ‘We Are The World’ to bring relief to those suffering from famine in Ethiopia. And while the need to assistant Africa continues, today the country of Haiti is suffering immeasurably from the destruction due to the recent earthquake and is in immediate need of relief that will last long after the television cameras have left. As artists, we have joined together on this 25th anniversary and in the spirit of ‘We Are The World’ to help meet that need.” GRAMMY-winner RedOne was also excited about getting started on the project… “It’s like, the biggest honor in life to get a call from our father in music Quincy Jones, and Lionel Richie, and Randy Phillips to actually as me to help produce the new version of ‘We Are the World’ and I remember when I was a kid listening to that song over and over again. Michael Jackson, all these people and suddenly like 25 years later I’m the one that’s gonna be helping to produce that. It’s the biggest honor and this is the greatest like, occasion I mean to do something for people for Haiti.” The original “We Are the World” was recorded in 1985 and brought together artists like Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Tina Turner and Cyndi Lauper to aid famine victims in Africa.

Obama Calls Out Kanye!

Obama told the media what he thought of Kanye West’s shenanigans during the VMAs on Sunday during an interview on CNBC (which was “off the record”) We have the audio at the bottom of the page. FOX NEWS has more (excerpt below)
“Pres. Obama just called Kanye West a ‘jackass’ for his outburst at VMAs when Taylor Swift won. Now THAT’S presidential,” “Nightline” co-anchor Terry Moran wrote Monday evening to his more than 1 million followers.
The tweet forced the network to issue an apology after the Internet quickly became abuzz over the stunning remark published on the microblogging site.
An ABC spokesperson said, “In the process of reporting on remarks by President Obama that were made during a CNBC interview, ABC News employees prematurely tweeted a portion of those remarks that turned out to be from an off-the-record portion of the interview,” Politico reported. “This was done before our editorial process had been completed. That was wrong. We apologize to the White House and CNBC and are taking steps to ensure that it will not happen again.”
Leno to Kanye- What Would Mamma Think?

So when Kanye was on Jay Leno’s premier last night, Leno came out with the question I was asking myself…”What would his late mother think?” Kanye then put his hand over his face and went silent. I think that people shouldn’t accept his apology. He needs to be DONE AWAY WITH! This is not the first time he has done this (SEE VMAs 2006). Here is the video:

Kanye West spoke out about his incident with Taylor Swift on Jay Leno’s new show tonight. Here is what he said:
his outburst was “rude, period” and said he wishes to apologize to Swift in person. When Leno asked West what his deceased mother, Donda, what would have said about this situation, West looked wounded and took a moment to respond, wiping his forehead as Leno pressed on, asking if she’d give him a lecture.
“I deal with hurt. And, you know, so many celebrities, they never take the time off. I’ve never taken the time off to really — you know, just music after music and tour after tour,” he said, perhaps referring to his next project — his upcoming jaunt with Lady Gaga, which announced its first four dates on Friday, before the VMAs.
“But I need to, after this, take some time off and just analyze how I’m going to make it through the rest of this life, how I’m going to improve. Because I am a celebrity, and that’s something I have to deal with,” he said. -Rolling Stone

Kelly Clarkson spoke out on her website about the Taylor/Kanye inccident last night at the VMA’S. She wrote the following letter to Kanye on her offish. blog:
Dear Kayne,
What happened to you as a child?? Did you not get hugged enough?? Something must have happened to make you this way and I think we’re all just curious as to what would make a grown man go on national television and make a talented artist, let alone teenager, feel like sh*t.
I mean, I’ve seen you do some pretty shitty things, but you just keep amazing me with your tactless, asshole ways. It’s absolutely fascinating how much I don’t like you. I like everyone. I even like my asshole ex that cheated on me over you which is pretty odd since I don’t even personally know you. The best part of this evening is that you weren’t even up for THIS award and yet you still have a problem with the outcome. Is winning a moon man that much of a life goal?? You can have mine if it will shut you up. Is it that important, really??
I was actually nominated in the same category that Taylor won and I was excited for her … so why can’t you be?? I’m not even mad at you for being an asshole … I just pity you because you’re a sad human being.
On a side note, Beyonce has always been a class act and proved again tonight that she still is. Go TEXAS!!
Taylor Swift, you outsell him …that’s why he’s bitter. You know I love your work! Keep it up girl!

Kanye RUINS Taylor’s Moment. Here we go again…

After Taylor Swift — who is just 19-years-old, mind you — won the award for Best Female Video at the VMAs, Kanye rushed the stage, took the mic from her, and proclaimed Beyonce had “one of the best videos of all-time.”
I don’t understand how he can finally get his career back and can screw it up like that. Here is what MTV says was going on at Radio City after the incident:
People are going nuts in here. They booed like crazy when Kanye leaped onstage and stole Taylor’s thunder. He responded by giving them all the finger on the way back to his seat. During the commercial break, Pink walked by him shaking her head in disgust. Even the show producers gave him a talking to. Not surprisingly, he didn’t seem at all bothered by everyone’s reactions, grabbing his date Amber Rose and planting a kiss on her lips.
