Andrew “Boner” Koenig Found Dead
Feb 25th
(CNN) — Actor Andrew Koenig, who had been missing since February 14, committed suicide, his father told reporters after his son’s body was found Thursday in a park in Vancouver, British Columbia.
“My son took his own life,” Walter Koenig said at a news conference in the park.
The body of the former “Growing Pains” star was found by several friends who conducted their own search of Stanley Park, where Andrew Koenig liked to walk, his father said.
Koenig, 41, was reported missing by his parents after he did not board a flight to Los Angeles from Vancouver last week.
Walter Koenig — himself an actor, known for his role as Pavel Chekov in the “Star Trek” series — flew to Vancouver with his wife, Judy, on Tuesday to help with the search.
“He was obviously in a lot of pain,” Walter Koenig said.
The Koenigs said they received a letter from their son last week in which he wrote in a “despondent tone.”
He had stopped taking medication for depression about a year ago, his father said.
Unknown to his parents at the time, Andrew Koenig sold or gave away many of his possessions and moved out of his apartment in Venice, California, before traveling to Canada, the family said.
Walter Koenig was helping the friends “get another sweep of Stanley Park” Thursday morning and was nearby when they found his son, he said.
Koenig asked others who may be considering suicide “before you make that final decision, check it out again, and talk to someone.”
“If you’re one of those people who can’t handle it anymore, you know, if you can learn anything from this, there are people out there who really care,” he said. “You may not think so and ultimately it may not be enough, but there are people who really care.”
Families of those who are troubled should not ignore the warning signs, he said. “Don’t ignore it, don’t rationalize it,” he said.
Andrew Koenig’s mother, Judy Koenig, said people who are depressed “don’t realize there is help and they need help.”
She said they should “connect with each other if there’s something that’s bothering you.”
Andrew Koenig had many people who loved him, but “in his pain, he didn’t realize it was available to him,” she said.
Koenig fell in love with Vancouver in 1988 when he first visited to film an episode of the TV show “21 Jump Street,” his father said.
Koenig appeared in 25 episodes of “Growing Pains” from 1985 to 1989, playing Richard “Boner” Stabone, according to a filmography posted on the Internet Movie Database Web site. He also appeared in episodes of several other television shows.
He was described as “a gifted and passionate multitalented young man” on his father’s Web site.
He performed at The Improv and had roles in movies that included “NonSeNse,” “InAlienable,” “The Theory of Everything” and “Batman: Dead End.” He also acted on television in “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” “G.I. Joe,” “My Two Dads,” “21 Jump Street,” “My Sister Sam” and “Adam-12,” the Web site said, and edited, directed, produced and wrote a number of films.
Koenig was an activist interested in many causes, his father’s Web site says. He was arrested at the Rose Bowl in 2008 while protesting U.S. involvement in the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in China. He opposed U.S. participation because of China’s support for a repressive regime in Myanmar, also known as Burma, the Web site says.

“We Are The World 25″
Feb 13th

Recorded on February 1st, 2010, in the same studio as the original 25 years earlier (Henson Recording Studios, formerly A&M Recording Studios) “We Are The World 25 For Haiti”, in which Jones and Richie serve as executive producers and producers, was created in collaboration with executive producers Wyclef Jean, Randy Phillips and Peter Tortorici; producers Humberto Gattica and RedOne; and co-producers Rickey Minor, Mervyn Warren and Patti Austin to benefit the Haitian earthquake relief efforts and the rebuilding of Haiti.
Academy Award-winning writer-director Paul Haggis (Crash, Million Dollar Baby), whose own personal efforts as well as those of Artists for Peace and Justice have already saved countless lives in Haiti, filmed the private recording session to create the accompanying video and behind-the-scenes production, and serves as Film Director and as an Executive Producer with Jones, Richie, Jean, Phillips and Tortorici.
The 25th Anniversary recording features over 80 artists and performers. The recording of We Are The World 25 For Haiti embodied the same enthusiasm, sense of purpose and generosity as the original recording 25 years ago. Every one of the artists who participated, regardless of genre or generation, walked into the room with their hearts and souls completely open to coming together to help the people of Haiti.
Weezy Got a Few More Days to Fix his Teeth!
Feb 9th
Lil Wayne mouthed off to the judge in his weapons possession case — and it actually won him his freedom … at least temporarily.Lil was scheduled to be formally sentenced today … to begin serving 1 year in jail, but it didn’t happen because Weezy has a date with the dentist to fix all the crap in his mouth.
Turns out Weezy’s grill is going under the knife on February 12 so the judge won’t throw him in the slammer until the surgery is complete.
But this will be the last oral argument in the case … the judge said no excuses on March 2, when Weezy shows up with his freshly fixed mouth.

We Are the World (Again…)
Feb 2nd
Lady GaGa, Wyclef Jean and Lil Wayne have joined the galaxy of stars coming together to record a remake of the classic 1985 benefit song “We Are The World”! Other artists working on the track include Bono, Kanye West, P!nk, Usher, Justin Bieber, Akon, Jennifer Hudson, Snoop, LL Cool J, Keri Hilson, Jamie Foxx,Toni Braxton, Kid Cudi, GaGa’s producer RedOne and will.i.am among a ton of others. Lionel Richie, who co-wrote the charity single with Michael Jackson, is working with Quincy Jones, the song’s original producer, to organize the 25th anniversary remake to benefit Haiti relief. In a statement, Jones said, “Twenty five years ago, the entertainment industry showed the power of community to help our fellow man when we recorded ‘We Are The World’ to bring relief to those suffering from famine in Ethiopia. And while the need to assistant Africa continues, today the country of Haiti is suffering immeasurably from the destruction due to the recent earthquake and is in immediate need of relief that will last long after the television cameras have left. As artists, we have joined together on this 25th anniversary and in the spirit of ‘We Are The World’ to help meet that need.” GRAMMY-winner RedOne was also excited about getting started on the project… “It’s like, the biggest honor in life to get a call from our father in music Quincy Jones, and Lionel Richie, and Randy Phillips to actually as me to help produce the new version of ‘We Are the World’ and I remember when I was a kid listening to that song over and over again. Michael Jackson, all these people and suddenly like 25 years later I’m the one that’s gonna be helping to produce that. It’s the biggest honor and this is the greatest like, occasion I mean to do something for people for Haiti.” The original “We Are the World” was recorded in 1985 and brought together artists like Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Tina Turner and Cyndi Lauper to aid famine victims in Africa.
